Glass Shower Doors

Glass shower doors can be a wonderful choice when planning a new or remodeled bathroom design. They're modern, elegant and make an area feel more open. In order to retain this look, proper and regular cleaning is crucial.

When it comes to cleaning glass shower doors, the most important thing to remember is to utilize the right products and tools to ensure you don't scratch the glass.

The simplest way to clean a glass shower door, or the glass in any shower door, is to use a non-abrasive cleaning solution made just for glass. First, spray the door liberally with glass cleaner.

Start at the top and use soft, absorbent paper towels to wipe horizontally, left to right, removing all of the cleaner and any smudges or dirt as you do so. Repeat as needed.

If you don't have a glass cleaner on-hand, you may also use a solution of soap and water; dish soap works well. This also works well when cleaning heavily soiled glass shower doors.

Submerge a household sponge in the water/dish soap mixture. Wipe the glass with the non-abrasive side of a household sponge horizontally from left to right, and then dry with soft, absorbent paper towels.

For pesky spots on the shower door glass, repeat as needed.

A squeegee tool also works well when used with the soap-and-water mixture. Simply submerge the squeegee into the water and then move the sponge portion of the squeegee in a horizontal motion across the glass.

After two to three swipes across the glass, use the straight edge of the squeegee to remove the excess water from the glass; again, move the straight edge of the squeegee horizontally across the glass, from top to bottom. Repeat process as needed until you reach the bottom of the shower door.

Finally, if there are water spots on the glass shower door that aren't removed by any of the above measures, you can create a cleaner from common household ingredients to use. Take a clean spray bottle and fill it with half parts water and vinegar.

Shake well and then spray vigorously on the water spots. Let sit for five to ten minutes and then wipe clean with a paper towel. Repeat as often as needed until water spots have been removed.

If you continue to clean the glass regularly, at least once a week, this process should be simple and take five minutes or less, and will keep your glass shower door sparkling continually.

When all of this is done, you should be back to enjoying your beautiful glass shower door and the ambiance it creates. Glass shower doors are an ideal choice for today's bathrooms and there are a variety of options available to utilize.

Once you choose one, follow the above steps to ensure its beauty reaches its full capacity on a daily basis.
